Data Archive and Subset

Copy-Filter-Mergeeprentise Data Archive and Subset software allows testing teams and development teams to create fully functioning sets of data from Oracle E-Business Suite. A customer may define filtering rules based on any criteria to create a smaller set of data and use that data for tests on a single business process or on transactions of a certain type or with a specific status. eprentise uses the filter criteria to select a category of data and then generate the code automatically to pull all related data into the data subset and maintain the data integrity. Targeted data subsets speed up the testing process by reducing the need for a creating a clone of the entire database and reduce time and resource requirements for maintaining non-production environments.

Especially as EBS databases grow and have a large storage footprint, it is difficult to conduct comprehensive test environments to apply patches, upgrade, test new development, add new modules, or change setup parameters for all different test cycles.

Data Archive Benefits

  • Removes obsolete data from the source instance that is not required for remaining operations.
  • Enables access to information that is only needed for day-to-day business.
  • Determines how the data is to be extracted from the current production environment based on multiple user-defined filter rules.
  • Requires no training or implementation because source and target are fully configured and ready for operation.
  • Includes a user-defined rules-base that allows filtering on any number of criteria. The filtered data are then eliminated from the current production environment, while the configuration and operational data are copied to the archived instance.
  • Retains access to filtered historical information.

Data Subset Benefits

  • Speeds up the testing process by reducing the need for creating a clone of the entire database, reducing time and resource requirements for maintaining non-production environments.
  • Makes it easy to conduct comprehensive testing environments to apply patches, upgrade, test new development, add new modules, or change set-up parameters for all different test cycles.
  • Creates a complete application for the subset of data so that testing can begin immediately.
  • Enables you to promote setups from development to test to production environments, or to copy configurations to different operating units or sets of books into a new target.

Data Archive and Subset Features

Removes data defined by user criteria to a separate, fully functional database instance.

Maintains relational integrity of configuration data, master data, and transactions for both source and archived (or subsetted) instances.

Users can specify multiple filter rules when defining the data that is to be archived or subsetted.

The filter criteria determine what data remains in the source and what related data is moved (in an archive) or copied (in a subset) to a new target.

Supports creation of complex filter rules.

Includes built-in audit and reconciliation features.

Employs knowledge-base repository of 100,000 + proprietary rules.

Enforces all mandatory, unique, and primary key constraints and relational integrity requirements of any relational database.

Repeatable, reusable, and flexible.

Requires no programming.

Independent of hardware, platform, and version.

Results in complete, consistent, and correct data.
