data quality case study - Technology Company
A world-class computer and networking company needed to clean up the amount
of customer duplicates that resided in their business application systems.
The customer's business systems are Oracle Applications version 10.7 character
in a single instance running the Inventory, Bill of Material, Accounts
Payable, and Accounts Receivable modules. The customer entries were fed
into the Oracle AR module by a custom developed order entry system that
was propagating duplicate customers. It was the desire of the client to
use eprentise technology to resolve customer duplicates, reconcile all
of the detailed transaction, and "re-populate" the corrected
customer data back into the custom developed order entry system.
The number of customer records in their Oracle Applications was approximately
80,000. The estimated number of duplicate customers within that instance
exceeded 30,000.
Because of the mission critical nature of the project, the client required
a conference room pilot with a subset of customer data prior to initiating
the complete cleansing exercise to determine the exact downtime required.
Data standardization and filtering rules were applied to the selected
desired subset of data and then the duplicate management solution was
executed. The pilot was completed to the client satisfaction.
Project Analysis:
